The “Nihon no Yokai Card” is now available again with a new look.

The renewed version is available in two types of packages.

Two types of packages are available for the new edition.
One features the artwork of “Kiyohime” and the other of “Tamamomoe”.
Both of them are colorful illustrations that are worthy of the beauty of the “Nihon no  Yokai Cards” illustrations.

The cards are embossed to give them a textured feel.
The micro-uneven surface is finished with a gentle touch that evokes a sense of nostalgia.

The back of the card has been revamped with a gorgeous, soft design.
As in the first edition, the “Fox Window” hand seal (a shape made by combining the fingers of both hands), through which you can see the Yokai if you look through, is used as the motif.
The motif is the same as in the first edition.

The design of the commentary has been updated to make it easier to read.
Everyone, young and old, male and female, will enjoy the world of Japanese Yokai.

These bizarre beings appear in Japanese folk tales, myths, and traditions that have been handed down from generation to generation. They range from those with charming appearances and warmth to those with bewitching figures and piercing gazes.

Morality and compassion are at the root of Japanese spirituality. The strange and mysterious Yokai remind us and teach us a lesson when we suddenly forget them. The abolition of this world is also a providence. The Yokai remind us that there are important things that we must never forget and that we must pass them on to future generations.

There are 40 cards in total. The accompanying manual includes a distribution map of the places where the Yokai have been handed down, as well as references to the Yokai that appear on the cards. Reading the stories in which the Yokai appear will help you learn more about the prohibitions and lessons contained in them.

Some Yokai may have appeared in stories you read or heard as a child. Sometimes stern, sometimes gentle, and sometimes invisible, Yokai watch over us from the unseen world, similar to fairies and spirits, but also unique to the ancient Japanese tradition of delivering humorous and witty messages.

They have been telling us “important things” since our ancestors.
If you receive the messages you need from these various Yokai, you will be able to regain your self-discipline and positive attitude.
