That simple wish from the creator, Makia, gave birth to the Macchiato Tarot.

Based on the structure of standard tarot, this deck is illustrated with gentle, friendly artwork so that anyone can approach it without fear. The images are designed to communicate their meanings intuitively. When Makia first encountered tarot during a time of confusion in life, she was deeply drawn to its wisdom—yet admits that the very first deck she picked up felt a bit frightening. That experience became the foundation for creating a tarot deck that feels safe, warm, and approachable.

The main character of the deck is “Fool-kun,” a character born from The Fool card. As Makia continued to draw him, she found herself feeling uplifted and energized, card by card. In this way, the Macchiato Tarot gradually came to life.

The name “Macchiato” is a coined word combining Makia and Art. Just like a coffee macchiato, the creator hopes people will enjoy tarot casually—perhaps at a caf??. Like adding a splash of milk to espresso, this deck is meant to gently add small moments of insight and healing to everyday life.

The Macchiato Tarot requires no complicated knowledge or special abilities. Trusting a feeling like “this just feels right” is more than enough. The cards mysteriously offer messages that resonate perfectly with your current state of mind. With that intention, she began drawing tarot cards one by one, eventually creating the Macchiato Tarot.

Today, while raising her child, Makia continues her creative work through the Macchiato Tarot and illustration. Together with “Fool-kun,” a character born from The Fool card, she hopes to share experiences through tarot that help people relax, think “It’s okay,” and rediscover energy and dreams in their lives.
